We answer questions from bloggers all the time… The most common one is “How do I backup pages on MySpace?”.  So being the web heads we are, we did some research with some documentation about a essential plugin for Firefox named ScrapBook.  We read, downloaded, installed, and used it hard. And suprise!? This works for every Web 2.0 we surfed!

ScrapBook is a great way to keep all that information you have on any number of sites organized with a local copy that your web backup can automatically archive for you. With one program! No command line this, install plugin that, it just saves it so you can put the pieces back together if any of them should go bad on you.

How you say? Here’s how it works.

A First, go to the ScrapBook download page (addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/427). Just click the green Install Now button and then restart Firefox when it tells you to.

B Once Firefox has restarted, you’re ready to use ScrapBook.

C Go to a website you’d like to save with ScrapBook. Once you’re there, on the menu, select Capture Page As.

D Now, with “Capture Page As”, you can pick the depth of links you’d like to save. This is a important! This backs up all the links on your page automatically. You wouldn’t be able to copy those extra pages if the depth is set to zero. Set it to 1 and you’d be able to. But if it were set to 2, you would have saved all the secondary pages, etc.

E After you’ve selected the different options, click Capture. It’s now saved on your computer! Now, go to the ScrapBook menu and click Show in Sidebar. The captured pages are listed in plain view.

Here’s what we have so far? You now have a local copy of all the content on your MySpace, etc. page. So if anything goes south, your covered. But just like Ron Popiel says… “But Not only this, we have more”.

If you have a internet attached storage product like CloudBackup on your computer just make sure that it’s configuration has your personal files selected for backup. This way all your computers essential files are backed up and your social website content is too. And Firefox runs on windows, Mac, and Linux all the same.  Not only will your computer have a full featured internet attached storage backup, but your social websites will be too.

In the past, Google Adsense was the darling of the Internet Marketing World. Noobs jumped on board the Adsense bandwagon believing they could make money fast and be holding up 100k checks like Shoemoney. Then, after a few weeks getting just a few cents for their clicks, they then become angry and screamed to everyone who would read their rants that Adsense doesn’t work.

The truth is, there are still many of us who are bringing down excellent cash with Adsense. Making money with Adsense requires a little more than just throwing up a blog, scraping content and adding your Adsense code. I usually check out their site and see that it isn’t optimized for any keyword that advertisers would be bidding on. Or, what advertisers that are bidding are bidding a nickel per hit. The lack of a focused website is one of the biggest reasons Webmasters don’t make bank with Adsense.

For Google Adsense to show your visitors the highest paying ads, your site has to be very targeted to a niche. For example, if you publish blog post on your website discussing everything from how green the grass is today to how sloppy your kids teacher dressed, Adsense isn’t going to give you the high paying keywords. Plus, the ones you do get probably won’t be targeted to your audience because the Adsense bot is having difficulty trying to make a decision as to what your website is about.

Now listen up. Suppose you started a website about cooking Wings. This website is all about chicken wings and nothing else. You have articles about Hot Wings, Barbecue Chicken Wings, Wing Sauce Recipes, How to cook Chicken Wings, etc. Now if you’ve done your on-page SEO properly, the Adsense bot will know that you site is all about Chicken Wings. If an advertiser is paying $2.00 per click to advertise their Chicken Wing product, your site will get that high paying ad. And what’s more, your visitors will likely click on that high paying ad because they are on your site looking for stuff pertaining to Chicken Wings when they see an add for something to do with Chicken Wings, which in turns gives you an excellent paying click.

Another thing that makes me laugh is when a noob says he’s getting a steady stream of traffic from Stumble Upon or Digg, but he isn’t getting any clicks? It’s no secret to most of us that Social Traffic doesnt convert. Traffic from Social Sites are just browsing the Internet while they should be working. There’s an old saying in Internet Marketing that goes like this. Readers don’t click ads and Clickers don’t read!

Search Engine traffic is what drives Adsense clicks. If your website is niche focused and you have your site ranking well for its keywords, then when organic traffic from Google arrives, they’ll be clicking ads. They’re searching for information and they found it on your site. Your site has a bunch of Adsense ads about what they’re looking for. They want information and they want it now. They will click those ads!

Yet another strategy is to have some vague or long drawn out post. If someone is looking for a recipe on Chicken Wings with Cheese Fritters and you have an article by the same name, they’ll be reading that article. But if that article is really long and boring and says very little about Chicken Wings with Cheese Fritters, they’ll get bored and start looking around your site. That’s when they’ll see an Adsense block with an ad for a sure fire, can’t miss Chicken Wing with Cheese Fritter recipe and click on it. Don’t solve their problem with your article. Let the Adwords advertiser do that!
